To survive maximise return! – Not all are affected. As José Caetano da Silva, Managing Partner of Talent Search, an executive search company, claims: “Stable CEOs are settled and will continue that way. The only thing that they have to take into account to survive, in the longer run, is to ensure that their companies face up to the challenges of the market and become truly profitable”, he claims, firmly convinced.


According to José Caetano da Silva, the main problem is achieving a balance between managing the market and managing communication with shareholders: “And the place of the CEO in the expectations of these shareholders” he assures us. The fact is that the paradigm of the CEO has changed.


For José Caetano da Silva the reasons for the succession are different: “There are two criteria that can be found. One, for show, in the sense of being a message to make the (capital) market react. And the other, to turn around the company and adapt its structure and values to the new challenges of the true market”, he criticises.


José Caetano da Silva believes that being a trustworthy chairman is complemented by being from a senior level: “We are going to go back to senior CEOs”.
